WALE ( Waaaaa Lay)
My man Wale has been everywhere lately. From his special on BET’s Rising Icons to performing as the house band at the VMAs, DC’s finest has been gracing our television screens left and right. Then, he announced that he would be going on tour with his mentor and a hip-hop legend, then one and only Jay-Z. Things couldn’t get any better, right? Well, Don Cannon has released a mixtape to coincide with the release of NBA 2k10. Wale’s joint is the finale of the tape, and he does not disappoint. Wale loves sports, and this track, entitled “I’ma Champ” finds Wale at his lyrical best as he delivers sports similes that will leave you hitting the rewind button again and again. You may not like his style, but Wale’s lyrical ability is out of this world. Hit the jump for the lyrics and download link.
Wale:
“Always knew that I’d be famous
From where they carry naked weapons when they on that OJ shit
I got a bus full of Buffalo Bills
And I’m better than Yao like the old O’ Neal
Uh huh, this thang here scrimmage
That mean I’m finna enter their game for 5 seconds
Without even sweating, it ain’t even nothing
Wale Ovechkin, ain’t nobody checking this
I’m Gretzky, Mike Krzyzewski
This is blessed so I’m Brady
I’m waiting ’till the coach let me in to save it
And the game ain’t fair y’all Raiders
I make shit worse like Al Davis
I say the spots y’all got we taking
Until we sip that rum we don’t chase it
We just move that Brown like the Ravens.”
And that’s just the first verse. The second one is just as dope. I want to highlight two lines from the next verse. The first is “Black UConn, you know what the El-Amin.” The second is “DC is like a draft lottery cuz the skill don’t matter if you under 6 feet.”
Khalid El-Amin was a member of the UConn Huskies basketball team in 1999 when they won the NCAA Tournament. And the second line is just self explanatory. Wale is out of this world. Cannot wait for Attention Deficit.
